The brief

Wirehive are hosting specialists who work with digital agencies and their clients to deliver tailored hosting solutions.  Three years ago, they came up with a ‘Big Idea’. They wanted something that would help them grow awareness of their brand exponentially, build brand equity and most importantly deliver tangible value to their target market. They knew an awards event would be a good idea but may be ‘impossible’ to make happen in such a competitive arena as digital. ‘Impossible’ just like ‘average’ isn’t in our vocabulary at Fogo.

Our approach

In 2012, we took this essence of an idea and worked with the board at Wirehive to create the Wirehive 100 Awards and league table. We helped Wirehive create a unique awards event that recognised the amazing talent and work being delivered by the many digital agencies in the South and South East that weren’t in the capital. We felt that a lot of the awards events in the digital sector were very London agency-centric. The big London agencies always have a perceived advantage and the other agencies often felt as if there was little chance of recognition of their achievements with what are often fantastic clients.

So the Wirehive 100 was born. The first year it comprised ten categories and a revenue based League Table of the top 100 qualifying agencies in the region. We sold all the sponsorhips, managed all the promotion of the event,  entries and seat sales and held the awards evening at the fabulous Mercedes Benz World and entertained a 170 strong crowd with a five star awards dinner, magicians, Miss Balooniverse and a party, hosted by comedian Russell Kane.

The event was repeated on a larger scale with additional categories and an official after party in the majestic surroundings of Guildford Cathedral in 2013 with 250 guests. 2014 saw us at the fabulous Denbies Vineyard with over 300 guests, 44% more entries sold, twice as much sponsorship and more rave reviews.

2015 Wirehive 100 Awards are being planned as we speak as they continue growing as an increasingly important fixture in the South’s digital calendar.


Post event surveys have consistently yielded  net promoter scores of up to 70 with attendees raving about it being the ‘best awards event ever’. We were shortlisted in the PR industry’s Golden Hedgehog awards for ‘Best Event’ two years running. The event continues to grow and yet retain its unique character and production values. Its role in raising Wirehive brand profile and generating noise on social media for them is huge.
